Helping Families Heal

Patrick Flanagan

MHA, CIP – Chief Recovery Officer

It doesn’t get much more Irish than Patrick Flanagan. After spending more than 20 years in financial services, alcoholism took hold of his life in his early forties. Following multiple treatment experiences, Patrick surrendered to recovery, with a sobriety date of January 18, 2019, grounded in the principles and fellowship of Alcoholics Anonymous.

Living and working in recovery gave Patrick a renewed sense of passion and purpose. In 2020, he co-founded The Lion House, a women’s recovery home built on accountability, community, and a positive, supportive culture. Building on that foundation, Patrick expanded the mission in November 2022 with the opening of The Brownstone, a women’s recovery home offering comprehensive case management, concierge-level support, and a strong family-centered approach.

In 2021, Patrick launched The Irishman and Associates, a full-service alcohol and drug intervention and case management firm based in St. Paul, Minnesota. Since its founding, Patrick and his team have helped over 100 families navigate the complex and emotional process of intervention, treatment placement, and long-term recovery planning for their loved ones.

Patrick is a Certified Intervention Professional (CIP) and a member of the Association of Intervention Specialists (AIS). He holds a Master of Healthcare Administration from the University of Minnesota School of Public Health. His training in the business of healthcare, combined with lived experience in recovery, allows him to guide individuals and families through the often overwhelming recovery system with clarity, compassion, and confidence.

Wesley Crawford

Co-Owner/Interventionist

Wesley Crawford brings a unique combination of professional and lived experience to his work as an Addiction Intervention Specialist. For more than a decade, his life and career have been closely connected to addiction, recovery, and the profound impact substance use can have on individuals and the families who love them.

Professionally, Wesley has worked as an addiction counselor in an outpatient treatment setting, carrying his own caseload, providing individual counseling, and facilitating treatment and recovery groups. His experience also includes intervention, treatment placement, recovery coaching, and supporting individuals and families as they navigate the difficult decision to seek help.

Wesley also served in an operations leadership role with Kingdom Pathways, a treatment and transitional housing program serving men experiencing homelessness and substance use challenges. There, he helped lead day-to-day operations while working closely with men facing addiction, mental health challenges, homelessness, and significant barriers to rebuilding their lives.

Earlier in life, Wesley’s experience as a professional baseball player and coach helped shape principles he carries into his work today – including perseverance, accountability, teamwork, and the ability to move forward through adversity.

Wesley’s connection to recovery is also deeply personal. His own journey with addiction and recovery has spanned more than two decades – from years of active addiction through the challenges of seeking sobriety, setbacks, recovery, and the difficult work of rebuilding a life and healing relationships. Combined with many years in the 12-step recovery community, these experiences have given him an understanding of addiction that extends well beyond professional training.

As a husband and father, Wesley has experienced firsthand the process of rebuilding trust and navigating recovery alongside his wife and children. He understands that addiction rarely affects one person – it impacts the entire family. That perspective allows him to connect with families who may be frightened, exhausted, frustrated, or simply unsure of what to do next.

As an Addiction Intervention Specialist with Irishman & Associates, Wesley approaches families with compassion, honesty, dignity, and accountability. He believes intervention is about more than helping someone enter treatment. It is an opportunity for an individual to begin a new life and for an entire family to begin healing.

Wesley’s professional experience and personal journey have left him with a belief that guides his work every day: even when addiction has taken a great deal from an individual or family, healing is possible, relationships can be rebuilt, and lives can change.

Tara Heald

Tara Heald serves as the Recovery Director for The Irishman & Associates. Since beginning her personal recovery journey in January 2019, Tara has dedicated herself to building compassionate, effective recovery support systems for women and families impacted by substance use disorders.

Over the past several years, Tara has played a central role in developing the supportive programming model at The Lion House and Lion House Brownstone, the organization’s premier women’s recovery residences. Her work focuses on creating structured, trauma-informed environments that promote accountability, connection, and long-term stability.

Tara holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and specializes in interventions, case management, and family recovery coaching. She brings a thoughtful, relational approach to her work, helping individuals and their loved ones navigate the complexities of early recovery with clarity, compassion, and hope.

With both professional expertise and lived experience, Tara is deeply committed to walking alongside clients and families as they build sustainable paths toward healing and lasting recovery.

Clara Rothstein

Clara Rothstein is an experienced interventionist and Recovery Life Coach with The Irishman. Having faced her own struggle with substance use beginning in early adulthood, Clara brings a deep, personal understanding of the loss of identity, isolation, and lack of life skills that often accompany addiction. Through sustained effort, accountability, and a willingness to seek support, she achieved sobriety at the age of 24—an achievement that reflects not only recovery, but intentional personal growth.

Since entering recovery, Clara has developed a strong passion for giving back and supporting individuals and families on their journey toward lasting sobriety. In 2021, she joined the founding team of The Lion House, where she began working as a Recovery Life Coach. In this role, Clara provided one-on-one individualized case management for women, helping them build stability, life skills, and confidence as they reintegrated into the community.

Clara later joined The Irishman & Associates to continue expanding her work in intervention and case management services. She is currently pursuing her Certified Intervention Professional (CIP) credential through the Pennsylvania Certification Board to further strengthen her clinical and professional expertise.

In addition to her work with The Irishman, Clara serves as the Director of The Lion House, a premier women’s sober living home in St. Paul, Minnesota. With over five years of experience working alongside young adults and their families, she utilizes a compassionate, person-centered approach to meet each individual where they are and support meaningful, sustainable change.

What we do.

WHY HIRE US

Relationships! A big part of what you are investing in when you hire us is the relationships we have. Through development of the Lion House and The Brownstone Patrick and his team have developed strong working partnerships with other members of the recovery community. We rely on those relationships with treatment centers, therapists, detox centers, IOP programs and other sober living homes to come up with the best plan for your needs.

We consider many of these partners friends. We have had them to our homes and been to theirs to see how they help their clients. When hiring The Irishman you are paying for those relationships that go all the way to the top. These relationships help us cut through the bullshit and red tape to get results. We pick up the phone and act as our clients advocates. Sometimes that is a call to the CEO others maybe a personal visit to check in. When your world is spinning around you and your family The Irishman will calm the waters.

Masters of Healthcare Administration from the University of Minnesota School of Public Health

With a disciplined, systems-minded approach to problem-solving, Patrick helps clients align people, process, and performance so initiatives move faster, risks are reduced, and outcomes are measurable.

-Joline S.

I have had excellent experiences working with Patrick Flanagan and his team at Irishman and Associates. Their follow-up is consistently prompt and reliable, and the entire process is well-coordinated, ensuring that our mutual clients feel supported every step of the way. The team is highly knowledgeable about treatment options and takes the time to clearly explain each step, helping referrals make informed decisions during an incredibly stressful time. Most importantly, their compassion truly stands out-they approach every situation with genuine care, understanding, and respect. I would highly recommend Irishman and Associates to anyone seeking guidance and support in navigating addiction treatment.”

-Matt L. St Paul based Therapist

The intervention team at Irishman Interventions provides highly professional drug and alcohol intervention servicesand is deeply dedicated to their work. I have had the opportunity to work alongside them for the past seven years, and throughout that time I have consistently relied on their careful attention to each individual’s history, thorough assessment of family and support systems, and accurate reporting essential to effective substance use disorder intervention and treatment planning. Their work makes a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals and families affected by addiction.”

-Angela Porter, MSW, LICSW

I highly recommend Patrick Flanagan for assistance in any aspect of addiction recovery. I have used Patrick as an interventionist and sober coach, and he exceeded my expectations in both areas. He is highly respected in the recovery community, not limited to the Twin Cities. You mention his name and doors open. In addition, Patrick easily established a working rapport with both my son and me, and he always treated my son with respect. Patrick was easily accessible, caring, and used just the right combination of firmness and compassion. In addition, there is no doubt that Patrick’s consistent follow-up and advocacy for my son greatly enabled his success. Patrick was positive and reassuring throughout our journey together. If you want the best addiction specialist, you want Patrick!”
